Songwriters Calen Perkins, Jason Roman and Geoff Zimmerman met at an open mic in Portland, Maine. Inspired by each other's writing style, the three began sharing songs in an effort to find new musical chemistry and grow as writers. The chemistry worked, and over time they evolved into a full-fledged band. They added drummer, Eric Landau, and draw from their wide range of musical tastes to collaborate under the name "Luniere" on original songs that showcase vocal harmonies, pop, rock and folk influences.
Zej & Calen were active as an indie folk duo based in San Francisco from 2010-2013. Their acoustic guitar-driven music and emotive lyrics successfully bridge folk, rock, and world genres, revealing influences like Neil Young, Simon & Garfunkel, and Nick Drake.

The Astral Force
Drawing on influences such as the rootsy front-porch sounds of Van Morrison and the spiraling cries of Jeff Buckley, The Astral Force lit up Bay Area stages such as Bottom of the Hill, El Rio and many others from 2008-2011. The band began as an umbrella for the soul stylings of vocalist and guitarist Adam Schraft, a prolific songwriter and bandleader on the eclectic San Francisco scene. Schraft joined forces with the experimental jam-rock explorations of Calen Perkins on guitar and Elliot Racine on bass, which were given a boost by the Latin, jazz and dub-infused rhythms of Robin Walsh’s drumming.
